Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed expressed his well wishes to his former teammates, Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim following their decision to retire from international cricket.

Both Amir and Wasim had announced their returns to international cricket earlier this year, making themselves available for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, held in the West Indies and the USA.

Despite their efforts, Pakistan's campaign was marred by group-stage exits, primarily due to devastating defeats at the hands of India and the USA.

In the tournament, the all-rounder managed to take three wickets in as many games, with an average of 14.66, while contributing only 19 runs in two innings.

On the other hand, the left-arm pacer was Pakistan’s standout bowler, taking seven wickets in four matches at an impressive average of 10.28.

After the World Cup, both players were not considered for Pakistan's white-ball assignments, leading them to step away from international cricket.

Sarfaraz Ahmed, currently mentoring Dolphins in the Champions T20 Cup, shared a heartfelt message on his official Instagram, offering his best wishes to the duo.

“Happy retirement to both my teammates and brothers, best of luck for your future,” Sarfaraz posted.

“Maddy [Imad] and I share great memories, winning [the] U19 World Cup final and Champions Trophy final. [Amir is a] Champion bowler and champion player, I will never forget your world-class spell in [the] Champions Trophy final game. Be happy wherever you are with lots of prayers.”

It is pertinent to mention that Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir were part of the Pakistan squad that won the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017 under the inspired leadership of Sarfaraz Ahmed.

Amir played a crucial role in the final match against India, where he took three big wickets: Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shikhar Dhawan, making it easier for the Men in Green to win the prestigious tournament.
